H-Curve™ Rib Remodeling in Miami, FL

(310) 970-2940 | Beverly Hills | Miami

An hourglass figure has been a beauty ideal since ancient times. A narrow waistline that flares into curvy hips has been something that many women have tried to achieve over the years using multiple methods like a healthy diet, regular exercise, and shapewear. However, you may find that a slender, wasp-like waist isn’t something you can accomplish naturally. Liposuction can help eliminate excess fat and shape your waist, but because some people aren’t built to have an hourglass shape, liposuction’s effectiveness is often limited.

If you are frustrated by fruitless attempts to create the curves you desire, H-Curve™ rib remodeling may be the solution for waist narrowing. This advanced body contouring surgery repositions and reshapes your lower ribs to sculpt and define your figure.

What Is Rib Remodeling?

In the past, some cosmetic procedures to reduce the size of your waist involved removing one or more of your lower ribs. While this surgery may have been effective, it also resulted in a higher risk of complications, as removing ribs put the vital organs they protected at risk for injury. Rib removal also requires significant incisions, leaving you with visible scarring.

H-Curve™ rib remodeling surgery does not require removing any ribs, ensuring they maintain their protective function. Instead, with rib repositioning surgery, your lower “floating” ribs are carefully reshaped and repositioned, allowing for increased definition of your waist.

How Is Rib Remodeling Surgery Performed?

The H-Curve™ rib remodeling procedure starts with Dr. Hadeed using ultrasound to confirm the location of the lower ribs. He then makes small incisions on each side of your mid-back and delicately dissects the soft tissues in the area to reach the targeted lower ribs. He carefully removes the tissue on top of the ribs and inserts a small surgical instrument through the incision. Once the rib is reached, Dr. Hadeed uses precise, measured movements to slowly cut through the outside portion of the bone. He applies steady pressure to the area, creating a controlled, medical-grade fracture to the rib, and gently repositions the rib to create a narrower waistline. The process is repeated on the other lower ribs, and once complete, Dr. Hadeed confirms the fractures using ultrasound before closing the incisions.

What Can I Expect During Recovery From Rib Remodeling Surgery?

After your H-Curve™ rib remodeling surgery, you will be placed into a compression garment to help reduce bruising, swelling, and discomfort. During the first ten days of recovery after rib remodeling, you will wear a specialized corset, gradually tightening it each day to help “train” your waist into its new shape. You will continue to wear the corset for a month, at which time you’ll be placed in a different corset for the last two months of your recovery. The compression garment and the corsets must be worn as directed; besides shaping your waist, they also help your repositioned ribs heal properly and protect them as they heal.

Prior to your surgery, Dr. Hadeed will review the details and requirements of your rib remodeling recovery. After your rib remodeling surgery, you must take at least a week to rest and recover at home, following Dr. Hadeed’s postoperative instructions and avoiding strenuous activities. You will likely be able to return to work about a week after your procedure and get back to light exercise six weeks after surgery. Three months after rib remodeling surgery, you will be cleared to return to all physical activities with no restrictions.

When Will I See My Rib Remodeling Results?

Some rib remodeling results will be visible immediately after surgery, as your waist will be noticeably slimmer. Your waist-narrowing results will continue to improve over the following weeks and months as the swelling dissipates. You will usually be able to see your complete rib remodeling results three to six months after the procedure; however, if you choose to undergo additional body contouring procedures alongside your rib remodeling surgery, it may take longer for results to appear. Adding procedures like liposuction will enhance your results but may also result in a longer wait to see the final outcome.

H-Curve™ Rib Remodeling FAQ

Am I a candidate for rib remodeling surgery?

Good candidates for rib remodeling surgery are non-smokers in good overall health. Ideal candidates for rib remodeling surgery include patients who:

  • Have realistic goals for their results and a positive emotional outlook
  • Are willing to comply with all of Dr. Hadeed’s pre and postoperative instructions
  • Are committed to maintaining a stable, healthy weight
  • Are younger than 45
  • Have a body mass index (BMI) of less than 30 for women and 32 for men

The best way to determine if you’re a candidate for rib remodeling surgery is to schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon trained and experienced in this precision procedure.

Your surgeon’s skill and experience are essential to achieving stunning results from your rib remodeling surgery while reducing the risk of complications. Dr. Josef Hadeed is a double board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in body procedures. He is committed to staying on the cutting edge of new technology and techniques in plastic surgery while keeping his patients’ safety at the forefront.

How long will my rib remodeling results last?

The results of rib remodeling are considered permanent since the shape of your ribs is altered. However, weight fluctuations can impact your results and affect the size and shape of your waist. Maintaining a stable weight through healthy eating and exercise will go a long way toward ensuring your ideal body contour for years to come.

How much does rib repositioning surgery cost in Miami, FL?

The cost of rib remodeling surgery in Miami, FL, varies depending on several factors, including:

  • Your surgeon’s fee
  • Hospital and surgical facility costs
  • Anesthesia fees
  • Preoperative and postoperative requirements (medical tests, prescriptions, post-surgical garments)

Additionally, combining rib repositioning surgery with other body-sculpting procedures (such as a tummy tuck or liposuction) will also affect the cost. During your consultation with Dr. Hadeed, the Patient Care Coordinator will provide you with an accurate cost estimate for your waist reduction surgery. Dr. Hadeed also offers financing options to assist with the cost of rib remodeling near Miami, FL.

Are there any side effects after rib remodeling surgery?

As with any surgical procedure, there are some side effects after rib remodeling, but they are typically minimal and resolve quickly. Swelling is the primary side effect after rib sculpting surgery and may persist for a few months; however, this is typical and will dissipate over time. Other side effects of rib remodeling may include mild pain or discomfort at the surgical site and minor bruising or bleeding. Any pain or discomfort during recovery can be easily managed using prescription or over-the-counter pain medication.

Are there any risks associated with rib remodeling surgery?

H-Curve™ rib remodeling surgery is considered a safer way to effectively slim your waist when compared with previous methods. However, as with any surgical procedure, there are always some potential risks, including:

  • Fluid accumulation under the skin (seroma)
  • Infection
  • Partial lung collapse (pneumothorax)
  • Chronic pain
  • Improper bone healing
  • Asymmetrical results

While the risk of complications after H-Curve™ rib remodeling is low, you can help ensure a safe surgery and recovery, significantly reducing your chances of complications. Rib remodeling should only be performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon trained specifically in this extremely precise procedure. Additionally, you must follow your surgeon’s postoperative recovery instructions to the letter to help ensure that you end up with the stunning results you desire.

Does rib remodeling surgery leave scars?

Rib remodeling surgery typically uses one small incision on each side of your back, leaving minimal scars that will fade with time.

Will rib remodeling surgery affect my ability to exercise or play sports?

Your ability to exercise, play sports, or engage in other strenuous activities is limited during your recovery from rib remodeling. However, most patients are cleared to return to regular exercise around three months after surgery. Rib repositioning surgery will likely not affect your ability to participate in athletic activities in the future; however, discussing your concerns with Dr. Hadeed is the best way to find out if the procedure will result in any long-term limitations.

Are there non-surgical alternatives to rib remodeling surgery?

While several non-surgical body contouring options are available, no non-surgical alternatives offer the dramatic results that H-Curve™ rib remodeling can.

Are there other procedures that will complement my rib remodeling surgery?

Dr. Hadeed offers several procedures to complement H-Curve™ rib remodeling to help you achieve a classic hourglass figure. Tummy tuck surgery tightens abdominal muscles and removes excess skin on the front and sides of your midsection to add definition to your waist.  Liposuction is designed to enhance your contours and create a more slender silhouette. Whatever your goals, Dr. Hadeed will work with you to create a customized treatment plan to help you realize your aesthetic goals.
