5 Things to Know About Rib Remodeling Surgery

“Hi, it’s Dr. Josef Hadeed, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, California, and today I’m going to talk about five things you should know about our rib remodeling surgical technique known as H-Curve™.

First of all, why is it called H-Curve™? H-Curve™ because the end result is an hourglass shape, so that’s why we decided to call it H-Curve™.

Now these are five things that you should know about H-Curve™ rib remodeling surgery.

Number one, it is not rib removal surgery. In rib removal surgery, we are removing the lower floating ribs; but in rib remodeling surgery, we are maintaining the position of the ribs, just changing the orientation of them.

Number two, the incisions are very small. Typically, there are two small incisions in the lower back that we utilize in order to perform the H-Curve™ rib remodeling surgery. That means the scars pretty much are inconspicuous, and you can’t really see the scars once they’ve healed.

Number three, patients have to wear a corset for three months after surgery. Typically, you’ll wear a traditional Victorian corset for the first month, and then for months two and three, you will wear a different corset with velcro straps. And it’s important to wear the corset throughout the recovery process in order to maintain the new orientation of the ribs.

Number four, cardio. Patients always want to know, “When can I work out after surgery?” After rib remodeling surgery, we want you to walk as much as possible immediately after surgery. Typically, by six weeks after the procedure, patients can start doing light cardio; and then by about three months after surgery, patients are cleared to lift weights at the gym.

Fifth thing that you should know about H-Curve™ rib remodeling surgery is that the end result will take many inches off your waist; and not only that, but the results will be very smooth and natural looking as well.

For all of my patients who undergo high-definition body sculpting, rib remodeling is a great adjunct to do in conjunction with high-definition body sculpting because it really will help to accentuate the results even further. The high-definition body sculpting will help to bring the waistline in, but the rib remodeling surgery will really help to bring in that waistline even further for a very natural-looking result.”
